After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife - Chapter 156
#156 “Ev, My Favorite Troublemaker!”
Sophia woke up to the enticing aroma of coffee and the distinct scent of sandwiches. As she opened
her eyes, she found Alexander setting up a bed tray adorned with a beautiful rose and a creatively
arranged plate of sandwiches.
“Is this the life-saver sandwich?” she asked with a delighted grin.
“Oh, absolutely,” Alexander replied with a cheeky smile.
Sophia wrapped the thin sheet around her naked body. Alexander’s eyes flared with desire again, but
he quickly controlled himself, knowing that if he didn’t, this breakfast would go to waste.
“Thank you,” Sophia said gently, making room for Alexander to sit next to her.
She kissed him tenderly, eager to indulge in the delicious sandwiches. Sophia couldn’t help but think
that waking up this way was the most wonderful thing.
Alexander’s phone rang, interrupting the quiet morning. He huffed, but then he saw the name on the
phone and picked it up.
“Good morning, mother,” he greeted.
Sophia continued to eat in silence, tuning in to the conversation.
“Yeah, she’s with me right now,” Alexander mentioned.
Sophia’s brows raised. She is surprised that Caroline is asking about her.
“Are you suggesting we come to your place for lunch?” Alexander said loud enough for Sophia to hear.
She nodded, and Alexander visibly relaxed.
“Yes, we will come,” he agreed. “I love you too. See you later.”
Ending the call, Alexander returned to his spot beside Sophia, ready to enjoy the morning together.

Evelyn hadn’t given up on her quest for information about Kyle. The next day, she returned to the
neighborhood to continue her surveillance, but everything appeared normal and unsuspecting.
Feeling the need to escalate her efforts, she decided to reach out to a friend, Dane, who worked for the
police. With a sense of urgency, Evelyn called him. Their friendship was built on a mutual exchange of
favors, and Dane was always up for a challenge.
“Hey Dane, it’s Evelyn. I’ve got a new puzzle for you,” she greeted him over the phone.
“Ev, my favorite troublemaker! What do you need this time?” Dane chuckled.
“I’m on the hunt for details on Kyle Vitali. Anything juicy you can find for me?” Evelyn asked her tone a
mix of excitement and mischief.
Dane laughed, “You never fail to spice up my routine. Consider it done. Let me dig into my bag of
police secrets. I’ll get back to you soon. And, by the way, lunch is on you this time.”
Evelyn agreed, knowing she owed him one. As she waited for Dane’s call, she couldn’t help but wonder
what kind of information he would uncover about Kyle Vitali.
A few hours later, Dane called back, his voice filled with intrigue. “Ev, you won’t believe what I found.
This Kyle Vitali guy is like a ghost – barely any official records, but whispers suggest he’s connected to
some shady business. Be cautious, my friend.”
Evelyn felt a chill run down her spine. Shady business? The plot thickened, and she realized her quest
for information was leading her into uncharted territory.

“Are you still on the phone?” Dane asked after a prolonged silence.
“Oh yeah. Excuse me, what do you mean by that?” inquired Evelyn.
“I don’t have exact information. More like rumors, but nothing concrete. I still have an address
registered in the system.”
“What’s the address?” Evelyn said, reaching for a notebook on the desk next to her, ready to jot it
down.
“Oh no. It doesn’t work like that; you’ll get into trouble. The only way you’ll find out is for me to take you
there. You won’t be walking alone. It’s a dangerous neighborhood.”
Evelyn felt the rush of adrenaline at the prospect of uncovering the truth about Kyle. Dane’s words
about a dangerous neighborhood only fueled her determination.
“Taking me there sounds like a plan,” Evelyn replied. “I’m not one to shy away from a little danger,
especially if it means getting closer to solving this mystery.”
Dane sighed on the other end of the line. “You always did have a knack for diving headfirst into trouble.
Fine, let’s do it. But promise me you’ll stick close and follow my lead. We’re not playing detective in a
safe, cozy precinct.”
Evelyn chuckled, “Deal. Lead the way, partner-in-crime. Let’s see what secrets this neighborhood
holds.”
As they planned their excursion, Evelyn couldn’t shake the feeling that they were on the verge of
unraveling a web of intrigue.
A few days later, Evelyn found herself standing on a dimly lit street corner, waiting for Dane. The air
was thick with tension as she looked around, sensing the neighborhood’s uneasy atmosphere. Dane
pulled up in an inconspicuous car, and Evelyn hopped in.
“Ready for an adventure?” Dane asked with a wry smile.
“Born ready,” Evelyn replied, her eyes gleaming with determination.
As they navigated through the narrow, shadowy streets, Evelyn couldn’t help but feel a surge of
adrenaline. The neighborhood seemed to have a life of its own, each building hiding secrets behind its
worn-out facade. They parked a few blocks away from the rumored address, choosing to approach on
foot to attract less attention.
Evelyn and Dane strolled cautiously down the desolate street, shadows dancing on the walls. The
silence was unsettling, broken only by distant murmurs and the occasional creak of a rusty sign
swaying in the night breeze.
“There it is,” Dane whispered, pointing to a nondescript building with dimly lit windows. It looked like
any other in the neighborhood, but Evelyn sensed that appearances could be deceiving.
As they approached the entrance, Evelyn’s heartbeat quickened. She felt a mix of fear and excitement,
wondering what awaited them inside. The door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit corridor. They
exchanged a determined glance and stepped into the unknown.
