Alpha’s - Alpha’s CHAPTER 23
Chapter 23
Derek’s POV
While dealing with the pack stuff in my office, I got a mind–link from the pack guards.
Turned out Tabitha wanted to leave the pack, but they stopped her.
What would be her next move? Better behave herself.
Just as I was lost in thought, my wolf caught her scent.
Bet she had no idea how alluring her scent was. The smell of gardenia mixed with berries emanating from her was like a love potion for me and Leo.
Then I heard her footsteps. She just passed by my office. Why didn’t she come in? What was she up to?
Soon, her steps halted not far off.
As expected, she headed to the records room.
Enraged, I closed the file I was reading and strode out of the office.
She was so engrossed in her reading that she didn’t hear my footsteps at all. When I spoke, she fell to the ground, panicked and startled. The files were scattered all over the place.
Although we hadn’t divorced, she shouldn’t be doing such things.
She knew better than anyone how much I hated it.
“Y–you’re back?” she stammered as she swallowed hard. Awkwardness was written all over her face.
“Who told you that I left the pack?” I shot back at her, all icy.
Then I started moving closer to her, my hands leisurely peeling off my suit jacket.
I didn’t do anything to Tabitha, but she was obviously scared outta her wits.
She propped herself up with both arms. With every step I took in her direction, she crawled back.
Soon, her back reached the bookshelf. She had nowhere else to run now. I finally walked up to her,
getting down on one knee to look her in the eye.
I
“See somethin‘?” I was calm, my voice devoid of emotion.

Tabitha swallowed again, cautiously nodding before quickly shaking her head.
My fingers tilted her chin up, forcing her gaze to meet mine.
“You know why I stopped working with the Silver Moon Pack?” I asked as I tightened my grip on her
chin
She bit her lip, murmuring her reply, “Because of Elena.”
I then glanced down, my eyes catching sight of a death certificate among the papers scattered on the
floor,
It stated clear as day: Elena died of a savage beast attack. There were giant claw wounds on her head and neck, her face completely disfigured.
As werewolves, both Tabitha and I knew what it was implying.
My finger trailed her tightly pressed lips, anger boiling up inside me. “I checked the surveillance from the human neighborhood where Elena lived. The day she was in trouble, John was there, too,” I
uttered, my voice frosty.
Flustered, she quickly explained, “My father wouldn’t murder anyone.”
“Murder? The coroner listed it as a beast attack. So even if the truth was out, no werewolf was gonna go after him. They wouldn’t risk exposing the pack. Nobody will seek justice for poor Elena,” I scoffed.
It was the first time that Tabitha and I talked about Elena’s death face to facă.
Leo, sensing my strong emotions, grew restless. But Tabitha’s presence forced it to hold back.
After all, she was our mate.
It was also why I had shown mercy to John. If it weren’t for her sake, I would’ve killed that jerk a long
time ago.
“Zack used to be the Gamma. When I stepped up as Alpha, I made him my Beta. He was the one who taught me how to fight. Almost like a father to me. It was all smooth sailing until Elena went missing. Since then, he got spacey. During a rogue attack, he was badly wounded.”
I forced myself to stay cool while recalling the past.
But the anger simmering underneath was still making Tabitha shiver.
“A Beta who can’t recover is no good as Alpha’s right hand or keeping the pack stable, so Zack left. I’ve never stopped searching for Elena since the day she was gone. Then one day, I finally got news of her.

But she was already dead. If it weren’t for your dad, none of these would’ve happened!” I snapped, finally unable to contain my fury.
“No. I know my dad. Ever since Holly left, he’s been weak without a Luna. And the pack’s barely holding on. He couldn’t have killed, I swear,” she fired back, her voice firm.
“You think that way just ‘cause he’s your dad. You’re living in a world of lies he built,” I told her, my fingers gently brushing her cheek. “Stop being so naïve, Tabitha.”
“I’m not being naïve. I said so because I’ve done my digging. Dad once helped rescue some pups kidnapped by rogues, and Elena was among them. So his crossing paths with her was perfectly normal,” she defended in a whisper. “He even helped them start a new pack.”
“Enough!” My roar cut her off.
“You want the truth, right? I’m telling you everything. John wasn’t helping them. He was in it for his gain. Guess why he sent some werewolves back to human society? Cuz they’ll be able to make him money! You wanna look at the files? Go ahead. Read every word! You’ll know the true colors of your dear father!”
With that, I scooped up the papers from the floor, flinging them onto her.
As I watched her shocked face, my spite swelled. “I got another surprise for ya. Remember the rouge attack on the Silver Moon Pack? It’s actually my idea. Too bad John didn’t get his body ripped apart,” I spat out.
