Alpha’s - Alpha’s CHAPTER 30
Chapter 30
Tabitha’s POV
While waiting for Gloria, I noticed a car stopped not far from me.
Derek must have come to his sense and come here for me now,” I thought to myself.
Just as I thought, Derek rushed out of his car, looking around the surroundings as if searching for something.
He then strode towards me. I stood still, my fingers tugging at my clothes nervously.
I held my breath as his footsteps sounded louder and louder.
I’m not gonna go back to the Black Thorn Pack no matter how.”
The ground creaked as his leather shoes stepped on it. But the creaking sound disappeared suddenly.
I waited for a few seconds, until the sound disappeared into the distance. I breathed a sigh of relief after realizing that he didn’t see me at all.
“Don’t
you’re mates.”
Crystal’s soft voice echoed in my mind, catching me off guard.
“What do you mean?”
“Leo just spoke to me. But I didn’t respond,” Crystal replied.
If Leo could sense Crystal, how could Derek possibly didn’t notice me?
I didn’t know what was going on in his mind during that brief pause, but obviously he decided to let go of me.
Poking my head out cautiously, I watched him leaving, but couldn’t see the expression on his face under the moonlight, as there was a layer of mist around his figure.
It suddenly struck me that perhaps this was his way of saying goodbye.
I stood still and waited for another half an hour until Gloria arrived.
“Why are your clothes all wet? Did you get caught in the rain? Is it because Derek? I’m not gonna let him get away with it. I’ll tell the Council of Elders that Derek, as an Alpha, betrayed his mate!” Finding me standing alone in front of the hospital, Gloria was furious.
“I want to go to the apartment now. But I didn’t even have the keys with me.”
With Gloria being around, I felt less sad.
“I got the keys in my car. But what happened on earth? Why are you here at the hospital?” Gloria opened the car door for me before returning to the driver’s seat.
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell everything later.”
“Sure. You want something to eat?”
After finishing dinner together and freshening up at the apartment, it was past 12 o’clock already.
“Now tell me everything.” Gloria sat across from me with a serious look.
“Gloria, you’ll
have to stay cool no matter what I tell you next.
“C’mon! I’m the daughter of Alpha of the Guaiacwood Pack, one of the three largest packs in the north! Trust me, there’s nothing I cannot handle.” Goria lit a cigarette, looking pretty confident.
“I’m gonna die soon.”
Gloria froze at my words.
“The Silver Moon Pack was attacked by rogues two months ago. I told you I was fine because you were abroad then. The truth is I got injured in the abdomen. The cut was deep and the rogue’s claws were dipped with wolfsbane. To make things worse, Derek broke our mate bond. As a result, my wound just wouldn’t heal.”
Staying frozen for a few seconds, Gloria got choked by the smoke and kept coughing. When she finally came to herself, she stubbed out the cigarette in a hurry, tears welling up in her eyes.
Panicked, she knocked over a cup, causing water to spill all over the table.
She then tried to wipe the table with tissues, only to sweep everything onto the floor.
“You’ve got to be joking!” Gloria’s voice trembled.
“Not really,” I said calmly. “Orson had been healing me with the therapy recorded by his pack, and my wound had healed much when I returned to the Black Thorn Pack a few days ago. But it got torn open again in an accident today. And the worst news is that Derek’s gonna reject me soon.”
“Deny it then! Don’t accpet his rejection! Or at least ask him to postpone the rejecting ceremony.”
“I may have tried if I haven’t found out why Derek hates me,” I said bitterly, “But now I know he’s
definitely gonna reject me. And Daphne and their child won’t allow any delay either.”
“What a scumbag!” Gloria slammed her fist onto the couch.
“There are reasons behind his decision.” I gently held Gloria’s hands and told her everything.
After I finished speaking, Gloria was in tears already.
“Sorry I wasn’t with you when all this happened. But my Guaiacwood Pack is powerful. I’ll ask the pack doctor for help. There must be something we can do about your condition.”
“The therapy is a torture for me anyway. After getting rejected, Crystal will become weaker. I may not be able to handle that.”
“Then
go
find a new mate,” Gloria proposed.
I shook my head.
“Derek blamed Elena’s death on you? And he even cheated on you! He’s not worth your love at all!” She shouted in rage.
