An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori - Chatper 2117
Kendricks acted swiftly as he issued a clear command. He was determined not to let Aldric’s death be
in vain. So, he ordered anyone suspected to be questioned without delay.
“Get moving!”
The Bloodfiery Legion disciples obeyed without hesitation. They charged forward and caused
onlookers to scatter in fear.
“Who dares?” Miles exclaimed.
He drew his sword and stepped forward with a fierce shout, “We are disciples of the Sword Union. If
you Bloodfiery Legion folks dare to cause trouble, you’re challenging the entire Sword Union. Can you
handle the consequences?”
With those words, the Bloodfiery Legion disciples immediately froze in their tracks. Their apprehension
was evident as they looked around.
They might disregard ordinary sects, but the Sword Union held a different status. As one of the three
major sects in Dragonmarsh, its power and reputation far surpassed that of the Bloodfiery Legion.
Thus, they wouldn’t openly confront the Sword Union unless absolutely necessary.
“Being disciples of the Sword Union doesn’t exempt you from the consequences of killing. It’s only fair.
You’re responsible for my brother’s death, and you need to answer for it,” Kendricks stated coldly. His
hand inched toward the hilt of his sword as he spoke.
Despite the Sword Union’s reputation, Kendricks was not intimated. He felt a deep-seated need for
justice after Aldric’s demise.
Crystal’s response was measured and somber, “The death of your brother is shrouded in mystery. If we
were truly responsible, would we be so reckless as to confront you today?”
“Perhaps you’re aiming to cast yourself as the victim, hoping to absolve any blame,” Kendricks
speculated.
Ruby couldn’t hold back her frustration. “Hey, can you use your brain for a second? We have no grudge
against your brother, so why would we want to kill him? Who would willingly invite trouble for no
reason?”
Even to a child, it was clear that this wasn’t a simple situation. Jumping to violence without
understanding was just plain reckless.
Kendricks, despite his aggression, knew better than to act foolishly. His sudden silence spoke volumes.
The circumstances surrounding Aldric’s death raised eyebrows. But without concrete evidence, Dustin
remained the prime suspect. Naturally, Kendricks couldn’t dismiss the matter.
“If you Bloodfiery Legion folks don’t trust us, you can investigate yourselves to see what happened last
night. Finding the culprit might not be easy, but proving my innocence should be simple enough,”
Dustin spoke up again.
After the duel last night, Dustin retreated to the tavern and remained there without venturing out. The
tavern staff can confirm this without a doubt. Should the Bloodfiery Legion inquire, they would find
consistent testimony.
“I don’t want to debate this with you here,” Kendricks stated with a cold edge to his voice.
He added, “Nothing simply materializes out of thin air. Given this kid is the prime suspect, I must
interrogate him thoroughly.”
Dustin chuckled in response. “Let’s get this straight. I’m not here because I’m scared of you but
because I won’t stand for false accusations. I’ve said my piece. Whether you believe me or not is up to
you. But are you qualified to interrogate me?”

His words ignited a sudden uproar in the area. No one anticipated his audacity in addressing Kendricks
so brazenly.
Kendricks was a formidable figure, acknowledged on the Legendary List, a pinnacle of strength. To
challenge someone of his stature seemed akin to courting death.
“This kid’s got the nerves! Daring to provoke Kendricks? He must think he’s invincible!”
“A fresh face brings boldness! He seems oblivious to Kendricks’ might!”
“Dustin may have bested Marco, but Kendricks is on a different level!”
Onlookers marveled at Dustin’s courage.
Those on the Legendary List were once-in-a-generation prodigies, surpassing ordinary talents by leaps
and bounds. Though skilled, Dustin paled in comparison to Kendricks. Their levels weren’t even
comparable. Dustin’s actions were akin to throwing eggs at a rock.
